Cheap option for tyres!?

Postby Hog » Fri Jan 15, 2010 12:20 pm

During all this snow and wet weather ive noticed my front tyres are quite worn but not yet at the point of needing to be changed. I was wondering can i simply take the back tyres and put them on the front?

Im a cheap skate and dont want to buy new ones before i sell it! :smoke:

Yep, There no problems with rotating the wheels, infact that will even out tyre ware.
Make improvements, not excuses!

only if you don't have the added extra option on the car that gives you "the tyre pressure monitor", as then the sensors are programmed to the wheel. i don't suppose many cars have this fitted ?

Hello, it is best to have your `best` tyres on the Rear of a FWD car, regards Damian. :-)

I agree with you Damian, and to add: it is wise to rotate the wheels regularly (I do it myself), to make them wear evenly. By doing this, you'll always have all the 4 tyres evenly worn, until they reach their limit.

Remember to swap only same side front and rear wheels as most treads are designed only to rotate in one direction.

Best advice for Megane owners: sell it before it bankrupts you!

Hoggy - have 1.6 vvt and swapped tyres around every Christmas - and get around 45 k miles from each set.
