Cold Start Problems - 1.5DCI Megane

Postby nigpay1 » Mon Jan 04, 2010 1:25 pm

Hi,

My 2004 1.5 DCI has been having a lot of problems starting in the cold to the point where I've had to have recovery people out twice to re-start it.

It has had new glow plugs recently and the battery has been checked to be fine?

Any thoughts welcome?
thanks

Can you describe the problem in more detail? How did the recovery people start it - jump leads?

In the mornings after the car has stood overnight in the cold weather it just turns over without starting and will continue this until the battery goes flat.

The recovery people jump started the car with leads, throughout the day then the car starts fine.

As I say, I've been today and had the battery tested (88%, good battery) and the glow plugs have all been replaced.

thanks

Hello, is there a problem with the Glow Plug relay/timer box ? I believe that it is located somewhere on the N/S inner wing area, regards Damian. :-)

PS - Do you know if any Fault Codes are present ?

When starting (until the car has started) I get 'injection fault' and 'STOP' which seem to be a familiar fault with megane's?!

I've looked on the internet and people seem to have different views so didn't want to go to a garage without having some idea first

I have the same problem, cold start , I spray a little easy start and I mean a very little amount as this can damage the engine , in to the inlet , it starts straight away , that does not solve the starting fault , it just gets u going, I tried checking my injectors by removing the plug connectors from the injs , now it wont start at all , do I have to have the injs re coded , and can anyone tell me if there's a cold start inj , and if so is it the no one or the no four inj , thank you
