Hi All, the drivers door locking button (keyless entry) only works sometimes to lock the car (no pattern to when it does/doesn't work either) The unlocking bit works fine. I just wondered if this is a common problem and if so if it's an easy fix?
Ta!

Re: Drivers door locking button...
definitely let the next owner sort it out! (As its an expensive fix if a new button (inc. door handle) is needed, approx £250 if i recall)
Don't count on me on this as I can't remember if I've read this before... but the keyless entry system may be able to be re-initialised through Renault Diagnostic software. But most likely it's water ingress into the button itself, requiring a new door handle. Either way, both 'solutions' require a visit to Renault - not cheap!

Keyless entry buttons are a common failure, yes. Replacing the button is a DIY job and the part isn't very expensive. About £30-ish if I remember but I'll have to check. If you decide to replace it then let me know and I'll post a guide.

Hi, any chance of posting the guide for this anyway as mine's given up the ghost and works sporadically. Also any idea on the part number for the button?
Cheers

Re: Drivers door locking button...
you can actually take the button out of the handle, strip down the button (really easy)then go to maplin or similar and get yourself a new microswitch of the same size (around 70p iirc) fit that into your button. bob`s your uncle.

Re: Drivers door locking button...
turns out this is definitely cheaper than what I said! (£250!!)
I don't have handsfree entry on my Megane, and the last post I looked at/participated in was well over three years ago! Three years later and out comes a cheap fix, all thanks to members of this forum.

Re: Drivers door locking button...
hi, i have a similar problem, however i have all four buttons sticking, just got back from my local(ish) renault indy, very helpful, and been quoted about £70 per door,,,,( i think the part is £15 +vat and labour ) also no point just changing one, cause the others would still be stuck..........so £300 fix.................................
suddenly having to use the keyfob doesn`t feel such an inconvenience.
if somebody DOES have a guide to d.i.y. i would love to see it and have a go myself.
cheers
andy
