Hi guys,
My boot lock has been intermittent for some months, but has stopped working altogether in the past couple of weeks. I can't open the boot from the outside; however, it will open from the inside via the release leaver on the lock itself. Is this a known problem? Is the boot lock a modular unit, and can I replace it myself? My Megane is one of the first versions of the II generation (March 2003).
Many thanks!

Re: Boot Lock faulty | won't open
mine had a new boot lock switch under warranty with the initial owner.
I assume theyre are a straight forward unit to replace and like the other common issues with door locks it's probably rain water thats corroded the electrical contacts etc. might be worth taking the switch out ,inspecting it and cleaning it up with wd40 etc before replacing it.

Great, I'll have a go at the weekend. Thanks.
Re: Boot Lock faulty | won't open
Just a follow up ... I never got around to looking at the lock, but the issue seemed to resolve itself after a couple of weeks, and has been fine ever since. This indicates that the switch and motor are fine, so it looks more and more like dampness.

Re: Boot Lock faulty | won't open
Hi!
Yeh this same thing just happened to my 03 Mégane. I got a new boot catch from a scrapyard for £20 and now it's perfect.
Changing it is really easy. You have to remove the trim from the inside of the boot door (the screws are in the handles to close the boot), and it's then secured by a few clips. Then just unscrew and disconnect the catch and put the new one in!
