Instrument Panel Lighting

I have developed an instrument panel lighting issue where twice in the last week or so the whole of the instrument panel (speedo, rev counter area) has gone out but all others around the car and dash are on fine, the strange thing is that the headlight symbol was still illuminated.

I have stopped the car on both occasions and then started it again and all ok, i also noticed that the the tiny glow around the electric mirror swith is no longer illuminated (then again maybe it shouldn't be )

Any ideas at all. Thanks

I've had the same problem with a Megane CC and Hatch - would be interested to know the answer.

It does happen sometimes on my Meggy, and Clio III, too. No big deal. Restart and everything's fine again.

Are these Meganes the facelift post 2006 ones? If so, this problem isn't unheard of - heard of a few instrument panels being replaced under warranty - only to find the same thing happening! I have not heard of a reason why it happens, or a proper solution if I remember correctly.
