-If i dip the throttle at idle, the revs drop down from 1500rpms to 1000rpms then bounce back up to 1500 rpms.
-While driving as soon as i push the clutch in the revs jump to 1500rpms, but when i brake the revs will go up to 2200rpms and then drop down to 1800 when I stop.
-I get no warning lights or messages and the temperature guage reads normal. The coolant levels are fine and I get hot air through the vents.
I tried a quick test once the car was warmed up. I set the heaters to MAX and the temperature to MAX. The air through the vents would eventually start to hurt your hands due to the heat output but what I noticed was the revs starting to slowly drop. It seemed to have some bearing on my problem. I eventually managed to get the revs down to 1000rpms idle but the car was getting very warm inside. I've also not heard the radiator fan switch on and the engine is too hot to touch. However The temp guage stays in the middle and shows no sign of overheating.
So I have bought a new coolant temperature sensor and will replace it tomorrow to see if it solves the problem. Does the ECU need to be reset after? If so how (disconnect battery for a few hours)? Also if anyone knows where the sensor is on the 1.4 i would be grateful as i can't find it. Do i need to remove something to see it? Whats it next too?
I was wondering if anyone else has had this sort of problem and how and what did you do to solve it?
Thanks in advance.
