Hi,
Yet another problem,
Sitting in the car outside the shop yesterday waiting for the missus to hurryup.
I started twiddling the wheel, as you do, while the ignition was off, and realised the steering lock wasnt engaging!
I can here it click, but its just not locking.
Im not to botherd about it working to be honest, but will this lead to, or is it pointing out any other problems?
Is the a quick fix?

Hey Gav - I have exactly the same problem with the steering lock...it is on the long list of niggly faults with the car, but I've just done the best part of 350 quid for a couple of sensors and a few bits and bobs at the Renault garage so it will have to wait.

If you haven't got any other symptoms, I would leave it alone. My understanding is that the whole mechanism is a nightmare with a weird left-handed shear head nut that breaks off and so on.

same here, just paid £275 for engine mount and a coil pack.
It doing my nut in!!

get it fixed now, i left mine for about 6 months and then one day i was going about 20 mph and my car cut out, power steering cut out. nearly killed me. cost 217 quid from renault for a new one.

Did the steering lock suddenly start working when it cut out then?

I had a Megane 1 once, that cut out at 40, lost all power steering, mounted a kerb and managed to stop 1 inch from a wall!!

yeah, i was driving and it would cut out, no power steering or anything, but it would start by itself after a second. that lasted 1 day, the day after that it cut out, and LOCKED. nearly killing me and my mechanic. get it fixed people.

i had this on my megane dci 1.5 its pissed me off it world lock left but not right (or other way round) its just the little things that pish me off then one day it wouldnt lock,
