Car judders on pull off...clutch knackered??

Postby Essexlad86 » Wed Oct 07, 2009 1:41 pm

Hi all,

My 1.6 megane 54plate seems to be having problems pulling off sometimes.

If when you pull off using a certain amount of revs I get very bad juddering as if its slipping...however if you drive it hard through the gears it doesnt slip...so rulled a worn clutch plate out. Could it be weak forks on the pressure plate?? If you put quite a few revs on or hardly any at all and use just the idle speed to pull off you dont get any judder.
Also if when you change gear mainly into second from first and you rev a bit too early before the clutch is up it judders as you bring the clutch up too.

Any ideas anyone??

Possibly clutch but unlikely I would have thought on a 54 plate (unless you have done a million miles and have bad driving habits).

It being a 1.6, I would search the forum under dephaser just in case - especially if there are other weird symptoms.

I own a diesel so am not best qualified to comment.

Best advice for Megane owners: sell it before it bankrupts you!

I get a bit of clutch judder on my 54 plate 1.5 dci 100, in the same sort of situations as you.
I'm not too bothered really because it definitely doesn't slip so no real problems in my book!

Just thought it was a trait of this cars clutch.

Hi all still having problems mine isnt so bad once a bit warmer but if you get the revs slightly wrong it judders away very badly! I.e if your slowing down coming up to a junction put it in to 1st and then apply some revs and bring the clutch up to pull off again it's bloody awful!

Any help at all guys??

I have the same problem, I've been told that the thrust bearing is wrong, whole clutch assembly needs to be replaced.. Gonna take it to Renault this week, will let you know what goes next..

well i've decidied to bite the bullet and just replace the clutch £90 from GSF cheapest one i've found!

Not sure but think drive shaft seals have to be replced as well...but dont quote me on that.
