Squeaky Brakes

Postby tomrhowe » Wed Sep 23, 2009 5:08 pm

Hi all,
I’ve replaced the front discs and pads but I’m getting the loudest squeak from them, ive put copper grease on them but that doesn’t seem to have worked. Is there anything else I can use, this is driving me crazzzzy!!!!

Could it be the pads? Even within the same manufacturer, same batch you can get a set which screeches whilst the rest don't, I know, I've had it happen to me.

Make sure that your tyre pressures are right, we had an awful screech from the wifes Modus, when I came to check the tyres one of the tyres was well down. Now that it's at the correct pressure the screech is gone, although I suspect that she has a slow puncture so it's going to cost us soon in the tyre shop :(

Seeing as you've already mentioned that you've copper slipped them, I'm all out of suggestions now, sorry.

Had same problem, try removing pads and small spring clips (top and bottom) put copper grease under clips aswell , then reassembel . My cc brakes are silent.

Had squeaky breakes, but changed pads at 70.000Km (43750Miles). Guys in the garage also machined the outer edge of the discs, so there is no ''lip'' on them now. Breaking is much improved now and no squeak. I think pads develop squeak when they get old or worn. Or both. :)

I'll put Brembo front discs next time. They are painted, so they don't corrode on the outer edge. It might save me the squeak next 70.000Km.
