ESP, ABS and SPANNER Warning LIghts Came On

Postby davestan » Fri Jul 10, 2009 8:17 am

08 Megane Hatch - 2.0 litre petrol. Driving home from work the other night the ESP , ABS lights came on in conjunction with the Spanner(service) warning light. Nothing seemed irregular with the car - drove and braked OK. I had occasion to go out again 1hour later. On startup the warning lights came on and stayed on for 5 mins while driving then went off - since then they have not come on again(it happened 2 days ago). I phoned the AD the next day who said it may have been that the sensors were affected by the rainy, mucky weather we have had lately, just keep an eye on it and if they come on again, and particularly if they stay on, bring it in. Is this a reasonable response?
Anyone else had this happen? What is the relationship between ESP and ABS - are they monitored by the same sensor?
Thanks for any comments.

That sounds about right.

As one member (todeep) recently said.

"It's unreal how many issues these cars have with water. Anyone would think they were built in Saudi Arabia! Renault missed a trick in their ads when likening the Megane to women with, shall we say, ample 'junk in their trunk'. They could also have mentioned it'll end up with more silicone than Pamela Anderson."

Just keep an eye on it, these things normaly dry out.
