Hi there I have a 2004 1.4 Extreme 16V and have the same problem.
I've taken the car to the Renault dealership and a Renault approved garage to have a computer check only to find that there were no fault logged on the compter.
This problem is driving me round the bend and would like to get it sorted out.
Any help?
Warren.

This is quite a common, I have read numerous posts along similar lines :(

If I remember correctly cleaning the throttle body might well help resolve your problem, have a look in the FAQ section of the forum, I am sure there is a link in there telling you how to do this.

Hopefully a fellow 1.4 owner will pop along shortly with more info

hello

this does indeed sound like a throttle body that needs cleaning- on this engine they can get gunked up very quickly.

does it only die when the car has been running and switched off and then restarted while still warm- or all the time?

its worth having done, its cheap and makes the car run much more smoothly, as fuel/air regulated as they are supposed to be.

It could be a TDC Sensor fault. Do a search for TDC sensor, I posted a How to on here some time back so you should be able to find it.

I had the same problem with my Wifes Megane and after a bit of hunting I fixed it. Has been fine ever since.
