Stuttering starting

Postby DriverDeluxe » Thu Apr 16, 2009 2:06 pm

I have the 1.6 vvt dynamique.

Anyways i've had the TDC sensore changed and it drives like a dream.

One thing i have noticed since i have had it is..

When i press start the engine seems to start then pause and then carry on starting. It does this every so often and i am worried it will lead to something bigger.

Any ideas what is causing this?

Does it disengage the starter in between or just having a difficulty in completing the first cranking turn? In the latter case it can be a weak battery.

It does it rarely and it has had a brand new battery fitted.
I press the button, it pauses then carries on firing up. It gets there. Once i started it and it kept on making the cranking sound over and over again and i had to press stop and do it again. It seemed to get stuck?

I've been told it's a problem related to the alarm, imobiliser. Because when this starts happenign the alarm will keep going off. Then it will be ok for a few days.

Does this sound possible?

Thanks

Please wait a moment... I don't understand two things. Are DriverDeluxe and Paul79 the same person? The second thing -- are you saying that the starter motor stays engaged or repeatedly engages when the engine is already running? It sounds like a problem with the starter.

Sorry DD is using my works Computer.

Is a starter motor expensive to fix?
