I had the nearside front indicator go about a year after my last post, now that is a bit of a bugger to get at as you just said. Everything is at a finger tip stretch and it took about 1/2hr to free the bayonet. Annoying thing was simply removing the bulkb and replacing it cured the problem, otherside did the same about 3 months later, renault electrics, phahhhhh :D

Percevere, it exactly as you say, I had just the same issue. The problem is it is easy to turn the holder too far and then you don't really know where you started.

With forsight a blob of white paint before I started would have helped.

Mine went again about a year later, took five mins this time as I just wiggled the holder and the contact was restored, just make sure that fiddling with it hasn't fixed it.

Haven't had the need to do the indicator bulbs yet, so can't comment on that, but I've done the side light bulbs and the high beam from under the bonnet - not very difficult to do.

Main beam bulbs aren't as difficult as I thought they would be through the hatch (I suppose the level of difficulty also depends on whether you have phase 1 lights, in which case the bulb is held in by a clip, or phase 2 lights in which case the bulb is a simple push fit). Fitting the bulb may not be all that difficult, but fitting it correctly is sometimes hit and miss. I was able to do my mate's ones really easily - one beam pattern was bang on, the other one had to be reseated. On mine, I had to play about with the bulb with it turned on a fair few times before I got the right beam pattern.

Moral of the story is, I wouldn't write off people's experiences just because it worked out ok for some....
