APPEAL TO RENAULT
Moderators: q292u, Ray, AndyAdmin, Stranger
Hi,
yes I am concered about this.
I have a 1.5dci 80 that i have heard whining when accelearting and didnt really think anything of it but after reading this and other threads re turbos I am most concerned now.
My motors only done approx 7k miles, registered March 05, although a late 04 Expression model. I purchased in june 05.
Should I be registering this problem with the dealer or REN UK in case it blows later in life? And will it be covered by the warranty?
Would welcome any thoughts on this.

Hope its not to late.
Having just read the other posts on this subject, Im starting to get a little concerned. I own a 2005 1.5dci 100bhp 3dr sport and It seems (touch wood) that the engine is the only thing that is'nt giving me problems, I've had everything from seriously creeky interior, wire connection to the headlights falling off, and even windows going the wrong direction, and thats only a few to mention, I would expect this from my 1989 audi, but not from a car that is just eight months old, Its off to the dealers at the end of the week, before the car totally disolves.

05 Megane II 1.5 dci sport and Audi coupe GT.
Hi All,
I think my Turbo has just blown on my 1.5 Dci
I wasn't entirely sure but I think the engine started to whistle a bit louder than it usually did recently. The car had just had its 36k service 6 weeks ago and I was driving home last night when the car started to whistle really loudly and there was no acceleration.
AA guy came out and he thinks its the Turbo
trying to get it in the garage now but being bank holiday its proving pretty hard, and I have to go back to work on monday night
Luckily I still have a few months warranty left.
Gonna have to borrow my sisters escort i think

I think my problem last month was similar to yours. The whistling was much louder than usaual, (acutally you could hear air escaping) and the power just wasn't there. On mine it was just a split intercooler duct and not the turbo.
Hope you get yours sorted soon.

I don't know what he means by sucking in.
I guess the AA must be right as he was looking at it.
It took the AA guy a while to find my split as it was on the underside of the top intercooler pipe.

I have a 2003 1.9 dci with 25000 miles on the clock. All seems fine but as warranty runs out in 4 months time I am getting worried. Surely renault will pledge to replace failing turbos and consequential damage in fully serviced cars up to a specified mileage (60000 ?? ) even after warranties run out ? I previously had a 1993 golf turbo diesel diesel van which had 130,000 miles on it when I sold it 2 years ago - and it's still going strong with never an engine or turbo problem ! To have to worry about something this serious in 3-4 year old cars is outrageous.

? Why should you have to hammer a vehicle ? Why can`t it be driven normally ? Confused with a 1.9 Dci !

I believe LGC means that the vehicle has to be used to its full potential if it is a diesel.
If it gets the schol run then it will only gunge up with soot etc in the turbo due to lack of warming up (ask LGC if you want a full explanation)
By driving a diesel at 60 + mph over a distance you are cleaning the system out.
I believe Webcode mentions this on the FAP thread here https://www.meganeownersclub.co.uk/forum ... php?t=2055
