Please Help! Alarm Keeps Going Off

Postby Chambo211 » Thu Dec 04, 2008 7:22 pm

Hi there all.
Got a question one of you may be able to help me with.
I'v just recently bought a Renault Megane II 1.6vvt Oasis 55 plate.
I'v had the car just over a week and I love it to bits.
The only problem I do have and it's quite an annoying one is that the alarm keeps going off. It's got a 'hands free option' to unlock, drive and lock the car.The alarm goes off everytime that I lock the door using the button on the handles but doesn't always go off when I use the buttons on the key card. There are no windows open and the boot and bonnet are closed but still the alarm sounds.Does anyone have any ideas as it's beginning to get on my nerves! and the neighbours no doubt!!!
Any help would be appreciated

No.Nothing at all in the car but it's getting me increasingly annoyed
Could it be the the alarm is too sensitve? Would it help if I turned the ultrasonic volumetric sensors off?
Really need some help with this please folks

check the alarm pin buttons for the bonnet and boot are ok, if theres a faulty one the alarm may think boot or bonnet is open making alarm go off or its a possible problem with the alarms ECU. The wifes clios alarm started randomly going off and it was found that the alarm ECU was faulty, they fitted a new one and it was fine, but i have no idea of cost as it was a warrenty job.

Hi.
Thanks for your help on this.Car has gone down to the garage today and is going to be looked at.They said it may be a problem with the alarm or that the sensors are set too sensitive.
We have only had the car a week! They didn't have a courtesy car available but because we have had problems with this car and a previous one (bet the garage get fed up of us!!) they have lent us a 58 plate Renult Megane think it is a 1.6,but it's really nice! Very nice of them ay!

I had a similar problem and a mechanic told me to lightly spray the sensors with hairspray. It actually worked too. Probably best to get the actual fault sorted though.

OPEN THE BOOT

LOOK TO THE LEFT SIDE AND UNDO THE CARPET WHICH IS TUCKED UNDER THE TAILGATE RUBBER SEAL

FOLD THE CARPET BACK AND YOU WILL SEE WHAT LOOKS LIKE A CUBBY HOLE, WITH BOLTS AND SCREWS IN THE VICINITY

HAVE A FEEL AROUND AND TRACE THE WIRES THAT YOU CAN SEE TO THE ALARM UNIT. THE ALARM UNIT SHOULD HAVE A RED BLINKING LED ON IT.

FIND THE BIG PLASTIC CONNECTOR - UNDO THIS CONNECTOR

THAT IS IT.

NO MORE ALARM !!! - BUT YOUR REMOTE CENTRAL LOCKING WILL STILL WORK AS NORMAL AND YOUR CAR WILL START UP FINE
(THIS OBVIOUSLY HAS NO CONNECTION TO THE IMMOBILISER WHICH WAS WHAT I WAS AFRAID OF)

ENJOY !

Hello All
I have little problem with car if any one please help me with.
I have a Renault Megane 1.9 DCi convertible 05 plate .
The only problem is that when I open door the alarm keeps going off. It has got a 'hands free option' to unlock, drive and lock the car. The alarm goes off everytime that I open door either driver or Passenger door . Key Card also works fine to lock/ unlock but Alarm sounds immediately after opening door. If I close door and lock the car it stops sounding but if I open door it starts sounding. I read things in forum to deactivate it by pressing start button 5 times but it needs to do every time. Any permanent solution please
Any help would be appreciated.
