Megane tourer heater switch

Hi all my heater switch has started to play up working then not working today I could only get it to work in position 1,2 & 3. I have read a post on her which suggests it could be the rheostat has anyone had this problem?

also could anyone answer the following.
1. How hard is it to replace yourself.
2. What would a garage charge to carry out the work.

I love the car but getting fed up with the glitches with the electric's and the cost of repair

What car have you got - age/model/engine? Also what type of heating, A/C, climate control?

Hi it's a 2005 1.5 DCI "Oasis" sports tourer with manual A/C button (the basic heating/cooling controls)

You have to take out the center console to get full access to the heater controller. Ive got mine on a scrap yard for about €20, i don't even know how much it is on Renault but i bet 100 squid will not be enough...
