Long time reader of the forums here. Megane '04 1.4 Petrol
Wondering if anyone can explain this one. Today I started the car to be greeted with a service light and the dreaded 'CHECK INJECTION' fault displayed on the dash. I've gotten used to the odd coil pack failure and thought "not again!".
As I pulled away I noticed the acceleration was insane, so fast! It wasn't running away with itself. Just that the entire car seemed like it was running on rocket fuel. Slight pressure on the accelerator was like foot the the floor the day before. When you lifted your foot off the accelerator it decelerated rapidly. I had to turn back, not driveable!
I left the car in the drive for approximately 10 minutes, and started it again. The service light or the 'CHECK INJECTION' warning never came back on. The car *seems* to be running normally again. Only thing I think may be related is the last time the car was used (the night previous) I took my foot off the brake during starting the engine too quickly. It decided not to fire as I wasn't pressing the brake for long enough.
Sorry for the long post... but any one have any ideas?

Re: Check Injection - Fast Acceleration
Don't know the 1.4 petrol model at all. It sounds like a random gremlin - possibly caused by the non-start. On the other hand, the non-start might indicate a failing sensor of some kind. Try disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes and see if it doesn't happen again.
Have the fault codes read. They should be stored - and ought to indicate the origin of the problem (ELM327 - ebay). Other things that spring to mind are the throttle body being clogged, or the potentiometer on the throttle pedal being faulty. The throttle body issue is well known. The cure is to clean it - have a search on here.
Sorry I can't shed any further light on it...

Thanks for the reply.
I'm hoping it's just a random gremlin ! It really does show how much engines are tamed for fuel economy, I guess.
I've always had hot start idling problems and someone mentioned the throttled body before. I'll look into that.
