How to change an injector

Postby mre15 » Mon Aug 09, 2010 7:10 pm

Can anyone advise me on the procedure to change an injector on my phase 1 225.
I have the dreaded light flashing and its a fault on cylinder 1 which doesnt go by swapping around plugs or coil.

Cheers.

No. 1 Cylinder is that closest to the battery.

They read from right to left.

You say you still have the dash warning on.... After fitting the new coil, has the juddering and low rpm on idle gone? Does the car feel normal to drive?

If not the coil may not be your only problem.

If it has and all is well you may just need the error message reset.

Yes 1 is closest to battery, I changed the plug and moved the coils around then cleared the fault. The fault for misfire cylinder 1 comes back on within a few minutes on tickover.
It doesnt drive bad at all, and the fault doesnt really show at driving speed, just tickover, its lumpy and the i get the fault.
From reading this forum everyone say's it will be the inector, but I cant find a guide or any info on changing it. It looks as if everyone gets it done at a garage, but it cant be that hard to do can it ?

Does the manual help? See the sticky thread above the other threads in this forum.

I changed the injector for a new one, however, I still get misfire cylinder 1 and it now feels lumpier on idle than it did before.

Any ideas.

Cheers.

Did you code it to the ECU? I believe the diesels need this doing - not sure about the petrols. The manual may explain (I haven't looked).
Silver 08 plate 5dr 1.5dci Dynamique 106 Tech Run (re-mapped)

Red 03 plate 5dr 1.9 Dynamique dci120

Best advice for Megane owners: sell it before it bankrupts you!

Nothing in the manual about this for the petrol models, one thing I did notice in the fault finding section of the manual was that if all the compents being changed on cylinder 1 havent fixed try cylinder 4. Even the renalut manual says its quite common for the ecu to report the faults incorrectly for the cyclinder numbers. Hmmmm great.
