Hi
Had a Megane now for 2 weeks, and its developed 6 faults at current count.
Latest fault is this.
1) When you start it, its making a noise, loud noise, for a second, and then it goes. This has been getting more frequent, and now its happening and cutting the engine out? what could this be?
2) Rubbing sound when the engine is cold, or its wet, like a belt slipping?
3) Drivers side airbag circuit open - this causing the illumination of dash light (service and airbag)
4) Cranksensor
5) A/C Clutch is not kicking in
6) Audable noise, like a tapping or clicking, coming from CAM area
I am getting stressed, whats the next thing thats boud to go?
Any suggestions on what 6, 5, 3, 2 and 1 could be?
Thanks

Is it a 1.6vvt?
Silver 08 plate 5dr 1.5dci Dynamique 106 Tech Run (re-mapped)
Red 03 plate 5dr 1.9 Dynamique dci120
Best advice for Megane owners: sell it before it bankrupts you!

Re: The problems keep coming, help!
1. Dephaser (assuming it's a 1.6 vvt)
2. probably the Aux belt slipping !!
3. loose connector under drivers seat in side of the seat slider rail
4. ?
5. noisey cam ?- how many miles done and what quality oil used ?
next thing to go...well take you pick...window regulators...keycard...top suspension mounts...power steering rotery switch... all well documented

Re: The problems keep coming, help!
most common cause of a cam belt failure on a megane is due to the aux belt failing

Hi
Thanks for the replys.
Its a 1.6 VVT, 66K Miles.
3) I have tried, well a garage has, at reconnecting the wire underseat, still saying circuit open.
Whats the AUX belt?
Can any of these things be repaird by one?
Glad there is a list of faults to look forward too, any advice on how to get the other half to get rid of it, she seems to love the thing, despite all the stress so far.
Thanks again.

my advice is if its not been, get the cambelt changed and auxillary belts changed asap and at the same time change the dephaser pulley (stops the stalling and grinding noise) very common on the 1.6vvt ,renault specialist will do it all for around £500 sounds alot but if it snaps big money, have you squeezed the block together under the drivers seat and passenger seat usually cures the service + airbag light problem.

can't see how the aux belt snapping would cause a cam belt failure, the two are not connected, in fact you could probably still run the engine without an aux belt although the battery wouldn't last very long.
