Juddering in 1st gear

Postby Dawnie1610 » Wed Apr 21, 2010 6:44 pm

I am new to this forum so not sure if Im posting in the right place.. but I have a 2008 Megane Convertable and sometimes, usually when I have been in heavy traffic, my car judders when I pull away in 1st gear. Does anyone else have this problem, and does anyone have any idea what it could be?

It depends what you mean by juddering as the Meganes not particuarly easy to drive in first and makes for an akward gear change particuarly if your foot even hovers near the clutch whilst moving in first. Theres alot of posts on here about the issues with the smoothness so this could be your starting point?

I agree with BlueMegane, they are not the easiest car to drive at low speed. The clutch tends to judder in alot of cases and first gear is very short indeed.

its only recently started doing it, and only when the car is hot, or I've been in heavy traffic.

hi m8 mines doing the same thing in 1st on the bite point and from 1st to 2nd think its just the cluch plate not gripping straite away and slipping a bit its hard to controle but it is possable

nowt you can do about it without a new plate just another niggaly prob with the magane and not covered by warrenty as they put it down to wear and tare

only happens in mine when the engine warms up! first thing its fine then you have to control it

my understanding with the clutch is that it auto-adjusts and relys on you pressing the pedal right to the floor.
experiment a little, when it's doing it again, ensure your pressing the pedal fully down...see if it makes any difference.
