Come you on Steven! We haven't heard from you for several days now! How did you get on emailing damage photos to the seller? Don't keep us in suspense!
I would like to know if the chap who sold you the car was the registered owner as per the V5C? If it was, next question is how long had he owned the vehicle? What I am getting at here is, did he buy the car damaged (cat C write-off perhaps?) with a view to selling it on after repair? Have a look at the V5C. If it was a cat C, section 3 (on page 1) will carry the words "substantially repaired and/or accident damaged; identity checked on .....(date)"
Of course it is possible that the vehicle was damaged long ago. It might help if you contact DVLA and for a few pounds, request a written service history. This will enable you to contact previous owners (but they won't always reply!)

I fail to see how any method of bad driving could fracture a gearbox mounting. I suspect the car has had a bash in the front - hence the new engine - which also cracked the mounting. You have not told us which engine you have.

Well that's my four penn'orth, for what it is worth!

Cheers, Mike

hi mike, soz, i dont get on the net that often.

had a problem getting the gearbox repaired so the garage has got a 2nd hand one coming monday. i should have the car back by wednesday. ill sort photos then and email them to him. i was surprised to be honest that he emailed me at all. he only emailed me after i told him ' what if it had been you driving with your wife' etc. must have got to his concience.

i havent got the v5 document from the dvla yet. ive still got the green part. week after next will be the maximum amount of time i will have to leave it before i can get one manually. it'll cost the same as it would have to get the old one repaired.

ill keep that it mind mike about paying dvla to tell me the previous owners.

the engine is a direct replacement, 1.6 vvt 16v. im surprised, if when after the accident that the engine had to be replaced, that no1 noticed that the engine mount was damaged too. i would of thought it must of been damaged rather than just gone cause 2nd hand or not, its job is to ' mount', so it has to be strong.

ill keep you informed lol

steve

Hello, is there anybody there? Knock once for yes, twice for no!
Steven, you've gone very quiet! It's been over a month since we heard from you. What was the outcome? Did you "pay up and shut up" and put what you learned down to experience? You must have had a resolution to your problem by now.
Come you on...

Cheers, Mike
