hi all just purchased a megane dci 1.9 today and it is great, just thought i would say hi and i have two little problems with the car.
1. being that the cd changer does not work at all no signs of life in it and when pressing src on the control unit above its only swaps frequencys for the radio. Have had the cd changer out and reconnected it to which it performed a few clicking sounds and nothing after that, the cd changer won't let me insert any cd's if someone could help it would be greatly appreciated.
2. when switching the front airbag on, it intermittenly comes on, on the dash, the previous owner said about a cable running beside the driver's chair and that when the chair is moved it can sometimes cause this.
Much help would be appreicated.
Many thanks Tom

Re: newbie with dci 1.9
Tom, have a search around about the airbag problem. Ditto the CD head unit - both are quite common issues.

Re: newbie with dci 1.9
Hello Tom,
Visit our ICE section regarding your CD changer.
The airbag light is likely to be caused by (a) the connector under the driver's seat, (b) the seat position sensor under the same seat or (c) the ribbon cable inside the steering column. In any case, vacuum clean the floor and spray the connector under the seat and the sliders with WD40. Make sure the seat slides freely. Check if fiddling with the cables help. How many doors do you have?
I had this intermittent problem alongside with the seat sliders jamming. A good clean plus plenty of WD40 cured the fault.
For (c) listen for undue rubbing and catching sounds from the stalk on the steering column.
More information is in repair manuals and Technical Notes in the sticky topic above at the top of the OP forum.
