Renault Megane 1.6 petrol cc keeps cutting out?

Hi,
I'm new here so help with abbreviations used would be wonderful. I have just picked up my new car, 2006 megane convertable. It's exactly the same as my previous car but the other one was getting old and a little rattly so I cruelly chopped it for the new one which I collectedyesterday. Driving away from the showroom, the engine cut out. Now tbh I thought it was me driving a new car, stalled it (oops!)

However, today I drove it, and it cut out 4 times before I'd even got out of my road, which leads me to believe it may be the car..? It's keyless, if that makes any difference at all. The last time
it did it was sitting at a junction, in 1st gear, foot fully on the clutch waiting for a gap in traffic... Gone! No warning, just the lights coming on to tell me it's cut out! I only collected it yesterday so I am expectig them to call me back tomorrow to sort it out. I'd like to think when theycome to collect it it will do it to them too, but if it doesn't can anyone give me any ideas what they should be looking at? I know they are going to think it's just me being incapable, which I'm quite sure it isn't!

Sorry meant to say it's manual, but it's generally doing it while idle, Clutch or no clutch!

When mine did this it turned out to be the camshaft sensor.

Ok so i'm my panic I keep googling, and it says something about the idle air valve ( or something similar to that!) could that be what it is?

Never heard of that cam shaft thing, Is that serious?

Best thing to do, is get fault codes read. Does the engine die when breaking or revs drop right down.

Haha @andywillis, it's goig back today!

Alan, it does it at different times, only when it's cold, and seems to be revs dropping too low. When sitting waitig to pull off, 1st gear, clutch in, the revs drop to nothing and it cuts out. It does it in reverse, or forward gear, doesn't seem to be picky!

I would say it could be any number of things;
TDC Sensor
Cam Sensor
Dirty throttle body (It doesn't have an idle value - idling is achieved via the throttle body's butterfly value)
MAP Sensor
lambda Sensor
air temp sensor
Dephaser
sparkplugs
coils
something more difficult to find like software update or fuel pressure.

basically leave it with the garage until it's sorted.

Ok, got it back! The software needed an update (who knew!) and the throttle body needed cleaning! Done! I'm going to drive it tomorrow and see how it is, thanks for all your help guys!
