Re: BRAKE LIGHT
I have this problem too - when you say check the wiring - what am I looking for ? 2 wires exposed/touching, where do I look - just in the boot ?

Re: BRAKE LIGHT
You could connect a multimeter across the terminals after you have removed the bulb. Have an assistant press the brake pedal with the ignition on or engine running. It should register a healthy voltage.
Also check each terminal against the body work. One should register 12V give or take, the other should register 0 (the earth).
If you get a reading in the housing, then you may have an earthing fault (bit doubtful though as each side has a separate earth - but check using resistance setting). If you get no reading, then there is likely to be some kind of wiring fault that needs further investigation.
If you haven't got a multimeter already, they can be bought for around £10.
Since you have no blown fuses, it is unlikely that there is a problem with frayed cabling shorting. Expect to do more investigation.
Let us know how you get on.

Re: BRAKE LIGHT
Just to say the brake lights started working yesterday - probably a bigger problem with ECU as now air bag light is on...
Re: BRAKE LIGHT
its a common problem, disassemble, clean up the contacts and reassemble worked for mine the first time then i resoldered it
