Re: Electric front passenger side window won't work
Hi, does your Megane have a full Renault service history?
they wouldn't give me a 'goodwill' contribution towards the £300+ cost of a regulator failure on my '04 Megane because, they said although it has a full service history - it does not have a full Renault dealer history!
Thanks in advance for your reply.
Cheers

Re: Electric front passenger side window won't work
forget going to the dealership if you have to pay anything for a regulator pick one up off ebay for £50ish and DIY its not a big job to replace and this is coming from someone that knows nothing about cars but even i managed to do it
if need be i will even do a step by step in photos on how to replace one for all those who think its too much for them to be able to do

sav0,
Wouldn't mind your step by step guide on removing the interior door panels - hopefully without breaking anything - it certainly would help me.
I fancy giving the remaining three regulators all a squirt of WD40 to stop/ slow down the inevitable damage caused by water ingress rather than getting riped off again by Renault.
I'm not planning on paying £300+ again for each failed regulator.
Cheers

I have one service that isn't a renault dealer but they were fine. I went straight to Reanult UK after having had no luck at the dealership. I did tidy the car up and the dealership siad I had obviously looked after it (!). The regulators are now warrantied for 12 mnoths which is good news too.

Re: Electric front passenger side window won't work
Thanks freddymercurystwin for the link. Hadn't spotted that in my searches.
Using the link to the renault manual from that thread I'll take a look and see what I can do.
I've seen some of the kits on eBay. The most basic seems to be just a steel cable. Is that all that goes or is it something electrical too? Otherwise it's 60GBP plus for the regulators.
I notice Haynes have released a manual for this model now (2003-2005). I wonder if this is included?!
Cheers,
Scott

Re: Electric front passenger side window won't work
i have a 54 megane and my window did the same last year, then just sorted itsef out, but alas, its just gone again, i hear that the dealers are charging up to £350 for a new regulator, rip off, can get a regulator online for £59.00 i think £300 for fitting is a bit steep, im going to contact my local dealer tomorrow, so fingers crossed, if its gonna cost me that much to fix , i thing i will not bother, and just board it up, lol..

Re: Electric front passenger side window won't work
had my driver door regulator replaced at a cost of £345
i have a tesco warranty but they would not cover it because the problem is caused by water ingress. despite trying to reason with them they would not give in

Re: Electric front passenger side window won't work
I have a 54 plate megane, but as it's done just over 100, 000 miles Renault would not even look at the window regulator without payment. I put a piece of wood inside the door frame to hold it up, but last month the other front window got the same problem. Yes you can fix it for a short while by removing the fuse and deadlocking about 20 times, but it falls back down of it's own accord whenever it wants to. Can't park the car anywhere and feel safe.
I've now bought two regulators wit all the sliders and wires off ebay for £59 each, does anyone have a guide on how to fix this problem. Just getting the door trim loose is hard enough! Aiming to do it this week, may take photo's !!!

Re: Electric front passenger side window won't work
Hi just thought I would post i had the same problem with driver door regulator , car is 6 months out of warranty but as has been stated before Renault have indeed lengthened regultor warranty to 4 years or 50 000 what ever comes first , took it down to Arnold Clark Bishopbriggs and they fixed it this afternoon , absolute result.............. but does make me wonder what is round the corner, in my 3 and half year relaitionship with the meggy its not exactly been all beer and skittles.

Re: Electric front passenger side window won't work
To update on my story, I got the car back to the dealer in under 3 months, and he fixed it no question. Told me he had to replace the motor, so I'm very glad I didn't try it. Must have been expensive...
I called Renault UK about a completely different issue, and bought this problem up. They were very polite but told me there are no know issues with the electric windows on this model. Hmmmmm.

Re: Electric front passenger side window won't work
Hi All
I too have the passenger window issue. It started about 6months ago with the window getting stuck halfway, after fiddling resetting the switches it went up ok. So i just left it and tried not to use it as some days it would work then wouldn't !However now it doesn't work at all and also the drivers switches appear to get quite warm after a while which i'm sure is not good.
My megane is 57plate sport tourer import, so technically out of warranty (2year) although last time i had a issue with brake fault my local renault put it on their diags and found nothing but didn't charge me, so that was a result. I also had the window fault on my 04 megane which cost me £400 to get fixed hence not knowing about any of this then.
So what should i do first? tackle my local dealer ? if they arn't forthcoming go to renault uk? wat u reckon guys?
the cars only 2 1/2 years old they gotta do something.
cheers
Clive
