No Idea Can Anyone Help!!

Postby d0z3r2k4 » Sun May 31, 2009 10:48 pm

ok was a nice warm day so took kids to Longleat 70 mile drive no problems, slowly driving round the enclosures (with windows down through none dangerous areas) i could smell something, smelt like clutch but with so may cars around us and not having any issues i carried on (not like i could stop) so anyways carried on through and parked up = and carried on the rest of the day enjoying ourselves - time came to go home and once i sat in the car and went to pull away the clutch pedal wasent where it normally was and i had to push it to the floor to engage it?? so i pressed a few times and i noticed it was close to the floor and that changing gear was an effort. now i carried on driving home and had no major issues though gear changing was challenging - now i made it home safely - And i have searched the forums and found many issues regarding clutches but nothing regarding the fact i could still use the gear box and the burning smell which i now believe to be mine i guess - speed wasen't a major issue (not that i was pushing it) - so where do i start !! spring i thought at first.................

and help will be greatly recieved

regards Darren

Check your brake fluid level (hydraulic clutch, uses same fluid as the brakes)

There is also the possibility that the slave cylinder on the clutch has also gone :(

Welcome along BTW

As Ray says, the master/slave cylinder needs to be changed as this is what is causing your problem. Same thing happened to my dads 1.9dCi Laguna many years ago come to think of it now!
