Hi
I brought an 04 1.6 VVT Dym megane 2 weeks ago, and recently it has developed a problem.....
Starting from cold (first thing in the morning or leaving work) I put my foot on the clutch and press start, the car starts and the revs go up, but then fall right down sometimes stalling, and sometimes just about staying going, If it does stalling the second time it normally starts with no problem....
I took it back to the garage i brought it from and they replaced a faulty ignition coil, they said that would probably fix the problem but hasn't.... can anyone give me any ideas on what to do next..... or what the problem maybe caused by.......
I love the car, but the starting from cold problem is becoming very annoying
Thanks for any help
Hayley

Re: Low Revs
Welcome along Haley
Unfortunately there are a number of issues that the 1.6vvt engines suffer from with regards to running and idling problems.
Coil packs, throttle body needing cleaning, TDC sensor cleaning/failure, injection ecu needing reprogramming and the dreaded Dephaser pulley. (search the forum for Dephaser Pulley)
A decent Renault dealer should be able to diganose all of these problems. If you have only had it for a couple of weeks take it back and ask for your money back if they can't fix it, you should not have to pay for any repairs as you have bought a faulty product.

Re: Low Revs
Hi
I phone the garage this morning and said it was still having problems, and they said they will book it in this week and sort it.
Then i went out in it, and for the first time it started first time with no problem, no sign of stalling at all, Strange
Going to keep an eye on it, see how it goes..... could it have been a problem that fixed itself????????????????
I haven't had to pay for any repairs as the car is under warranty, I love the car, I just need this problem sorted
Thanks Guys

Re: Low Revs
Well the Renault dealer diagnosed the dephaser, so £640 later and yes it started great, but the odd occasion, the revs have dropped a little. So will give it a few more weeks, then take it back, I had the slight rattle on mine, but it could be a number of things.

Re: Low Revs
Clean the throttle body - mine was exactly the same, until the local Renault dealer cleaned it 11 days ago.......
