French Electrics... - Window Regulator suspect

Postby Waugh-terfall » Mon Apr 27, 2009 11:35 pm

After 3 days of Renault ownership I'm starting to get problems... I absolutely love the car (Megane II) but it appears to have contracted the now infamous Window Regulator Fault... This is where my One-Touch Electric Windows drop, all by themselves (THANKS RENAULT!!!!) and won't go up... After almost 3hrs of fiddling I've got the front passenger window back up and removed the fuse, just a short while ago, I went to move my car and I need to open the window to hear what my Dad is shouting, but oh, the window only moves 2 inches up or down with each press, exactly the same as the passenger side window did before it failed all together... I've been doing my homework and the most likely cause of this seems to be water ingress... Is there anyway I can better insulate the doors of my car against water?
Any other tips would be greatly appreciated!

Car is a December 2002 Renault Megane II Dynamique 1.4 16v 5dr Hatch

Thanks in advance!!

if the windows only move by just a couple of inches they just need resetting get both windows back up to the top then hold the passenger and drivers side window buttons up for 10 seconds they should move up and down as normal

Hi,

I believe I have a similiar problem. I currently own a Renault Megane DYNAMIQUE VVT 5door 03 plate. The drivers window has been playing up lately. The garage has put a new motor, new reg.. I think he said basically everything is new on the window. However I recently had the car back and the garage can not figure out whats wrong with the window. It goes down but only in steps, everytime I press it, it goes but then stops. Also the same when I put the window up. The guy in the garage said they have the same problems on BMW they got, but on that they just had to enter a code and then the window worked fine.

Have got to hold the the button the window up for 10 seconds, or is that a different problem.

Thanks.

Yeah, that was what my drivers window was doing after I removed the fuse thinking it was the passenger one, it just lost it's memory for where top and bottom are, needs re-calibrating, so yeah, get it up and hold for 10secs.
