Beeping Noise When Activating Alarm
Evening All,
As the topic says really - on walking away from the car this evening and locking it by pushing the button on the keycard (04 1.9dci, non-keyless), 3 distinct but quiet beeps were heard in time with the normal indicator flashes.
The car has been idling like a bag of spanners on and off (all glow plugs checked against battery voltage and are fine), and the journeys to and from work saw no improvement in this. However, I had to go out again after leaving the car for no more than 25 minutes and guess what - on firing it up, it's idling as smooth as you like!! Has anyone else experienced this, are the 2 events linked, or is it just possessed and playing with my mind??!!
Please help for the sake of my sanity!!

Mines beeps too, but only when one of the doors, or the bonnet or boot is not properly closed! Once you close them properly, it should lock with no beeps!

Re: Beeping Noise When Activating Alarm
There were no "door openings" shown on the dash display, but I'll definitely try it again later!
It was back to "normal" with the idling situation again this morning (rough), so they're definitely not linked and I'm not going mad! The quest for a solution continues!!

Re: Beeping Noise When Activating Alarm
There are a few threads on here about rough idling.....most turn out to be engine mounts!
Have a look at this thread for example....

Hmm, never thought of that. Would you expect the vibration to be there all the time, as it comes and goes depending on what mood the car is in!! Have though about disconnecting the battery for a while this weekend to see if it makes any difference, although I seem to be clutching at straws trying to prevent the inevitable re-mortgaging of the house for the privilege of letting the dealer look at it and not fix it - again......

Mine beeps every now and then can't see why doors and boot and bonnet checked and fine. Just one of those things i think.
Mine runs fine too so can't see the beeping is to do with that.

Messer,
Sounds like your dual mass flywheel is faulty. Many Renault dealers will go for the fuel injectors as it seems like its a mis fire?
This is what happened to me, they changed my injectors under warranty (2 years ago) which made no difference. I now have no warranty to cover the cost of 8.9 hours labour and a flywheel to fix the fault - about a £1000.

Misfire - the exact phrase that was used when it last went in for service a month ago.....
£1000??!! Had the car valued at a provisional £3500 sight unseen as a trade-in against an equivalent age C-Max - plans may well be scuppered if that's got to get fixed!! Was yours also an intermittant fault that came and went without any pattern?

Re: Beeping Noise When Activating Alarm
Yes, having had this issue for 56,000 miles now, I can certainly say it is intermittent. (started at 40k, im now on 96k) Each time I took it into Renault, they said no fault found as it was random. Finally though I had my injectors changed, at 60,000 miles just before my warranty expired.
I have only found out recently, what the real culprit is!
I'm not gonna bother getting my flywheel changed as firstly I'm not willing to spend £1000 on my car as it has 96,000miles on it is 5 years old. Also, I've had the problem for so long now, I've just grown used to it. Another point to add, the technician I was speaking to hasn't heard of a flywheel failing on a 1.9dCi because of this issue - but I think that doesn't necessarily mean it won't.

Thanks for the replies. By the sound of it, you may well have solved the problem - difficult one to swallow though, especially as its just had a £250 service and a blower motor issue which cost £217 to put right, both within the past couple of months... Ours is just coming up to 43,000 miles, but it probably started at around the 40,000 mile mark also - coincidence?? It's running fine tonight, but I just know it'll be back to shaking my fillings out tomorrow - never had to spend so much money on a car
