Passenger Side Window Dead

Postby ft101 » Sat Jan 17, 2009 4:56 pm

HI there

The passenger side window on our 2004 megane is dead; no sound from the motor (so mechanism not stuck) engine revs dont dip either so no current draw. I'm tempted to think switch, assume there is no fuse specific for that window? All other windows work fine.

Any ideas please? This megane so far has had a new steering lock, new dephaser and now, hopefully, this will be cheap to fix but I doubt it.

Thanks
Mike

Edit: Its the passenger side front window. Car is a 1.6.

OK sounds like "the" regulator problem. What a piece of crap this car is.

Its got 34k on it, does anyone think a trip to a dealer is worthwhile to see about a good will repair? 04 plate.

Can someone confirm for me this does sound like a regulator problem? Thanks.

There is a fuse for that window in the glovebox, but it does sound more like the regulator. I had the same symptoms just before christmas and it was the reg. Be careful if you keep trying the window as it may go down and then get stuck as with my car.

Haha, mine went down on the motorway in the wet on a Saturday morning and stayed down till I took it the Dealer on the Monday! :D Unfortunately the Renault warranty for the regulators was extended to 4 years/50,000 miles so technically you'll likely be out of luck. Worth a try though you never know. Otherwise you can do it yourself if you can be arsed or get a non Dealer to do it, no need for them (or you) to get the new regulator from the Dealer, plenty of cheaper ones available via the web or Ebay or prob even local car part dealers. Personally to me its a load of hassle to take the door apart so would go the local independent route.

Mine was a couple of inches for 9 days before I could get it into the dealer in between Christmas and New Year. It was stuck in the up position until my girlfriend decided to show her mum that the window wasn't working.... then whoops!! :banghead :banghead :banghead Im just glad we've got a garage!!

It was fixed as a 'goodwill gesture' by the dealer and they cracked the window removing it so that was replaced too.

Thanks guys. Reg it is then.

So at 04/38k the concensus is to try the dealer for a goodwill, but it will likely be refused?
