side lights and other related issues

Hello I have recently picked up a 2003 megane dynamic which has the following issue.
the front sidelights are not working together with the tail lights.and also the dash lights at the center consol;ie heater control/radio lighting,the dimmer control for the dashlights also seems to be affected.I have completly checked all the fuses in the car, by the battery and the glove box all are in order.I have also checked the contacts for the harness bythe fuses in case they were an issue all seems in order their too. any help would be appreciated. :

W ell I have sorted the prolem I had with airbag light which was due to connections under the drivers seat .
And made some progress with side lights.have traced the side light wiring which by the way is a blue wire coming out of the maze of wire and fuses under the bonnet besuide the battery! if i hard wire it to the batterythe light s work fine so it appears the problem is with switch unit on the steering colum and to re[placeit will cost 250.00 for the part.I will disect the switch befopre paying that out.
