In Feb this year, mum's Scenic was taken for its Service/MOT. On the report, it stated that the steering rack had 'slight' play in it. The service and MOT were done by a specialist as I refuse to pay over the odds for a Renault apprentice monkey to change some filters and spark plugs!
I took the car to Renault Manchester the day after, and they had a look at it. The car is covered under the Reagroup extended warranty, and it even says on the leaflet saying whats covered, that steering racks ARE covered. Renault looked at it, agreed it had very slight play, and refused to replace it. I'm sorry, but to me, slight play means its broken, there for covered under warranty???
I was quite tempted to sue Renault for the privlege of selling me this USELESS warranty, however, considering the car was still driveable, I let it go by.
Now in November, I was driving the car the other day, and have notice a right racket coming from the steering wheel itself. It sounds like ball bearings in a glass jar clicking away, and coming from where the steering wheel fits on. Can anyone tell me if this is the steering rack itself and its about to give in or related to the steering rack???

If it is the steering rack and/or steering rack related, and if Renault refuse to replace it, I will be taking legal action against them, had quite enough of dealers messing me around, now its payback time.

Any advice would be great!! Cheers!
