Clutch Problem

Postby mackem79 » Tue Oct 28, 2008 7:46 am

Hi

My Megane is at about 55k now and the Mrs was driving it the other day when she said she heard a 'metal on metal' noise and ever since the clutch has worked but has been closer to the floor. It drives fine and the garage I took it to said there was nothing wrong but clearly the starting point of the clutch is now lower and I am concerned that something is wrong.

Any help appreciated.

It's a 53 plate saloon 1.9 DCI.

Thanks

get down and have a look at the pedal itself, look at the clutch return spring it may have snapped.

Sorry for highjacking your thread.

Hi folks. Our 1.6 VVT 2004 had the same issue, except on the weekend suddenly lost clutch whilst driving (went to change gear, lost the biting point and there's nothing now). Nothing else from ordinary no smell, leakage or slipping clutch. The clutch pedal can be depressed and returns to normal position but there is no resistance/biting point.

Should point out the car had its rear pads replaced, and brake fluid changed few months back & ever since the stop/handbrake sign has been flashing occassionaly on the dash with a beeping noise also.

Any help would be appreciated. I am East London based, any ideas of where I should take to have it looked it...any recommended Renault specialists or someone you may have used?

Your problem is different to mine mate (hopefully mine won't develop to yours) so suggest you start a new thread.

the fuid is low (brake/clutch fluid)..the same res is for brake and clutch..so possibly a leak somewhere or the servo has gone.
