Just an update... have just rung Renault to be informed that after 4 days they have found nothing wrong with the car; cannot see how they could not find a problem , well we will have to pick up the car friday and see how long before we crash!

just thought i'd add my experience of my GT dci.
I got it in march 2008 but due to a change of job soon after i got it, (which wasnt planned), ive only done under 4k miles. I get smoke on start up thats worse when its cold. not sure id say its blue mind you. more grey or maybe a very light blue. also get loads of smoke if you let the revs go very high.
My mpg is only about 39-42 depending on how much i'm thrashing about. dont get much motorway use anymore. I'd probably get better is id drove a bit nicer. best i managed was about 46mpg on a trip to manchster from glasgow and back going about 80 or 90 most of the way.
i've got loads of rattles from the dash. so many its hard to exactly where they are coming from.

Our DCI 175 LUX has not smoked since we got it, no rattles, now at 3,100 miles doing 46mpg non motorway use, more "A" roads so there is something about some of the GT's that smoke, what it is I do not know but the overal quality of the renault sport seems much better, its all academic now really as the new models will be coming out with the new engines range, personally I'm glad we got the quirky shaped rear, its got character

Hi all just thought I'd add my expirence with my 07GT. I have had it from new and for 3 months behaved impecably. Then for no apparent reason started blowing blueish smoke on start up and the mpg dropped off dramaticly from 49 mpg to 39-40mpg, it has been back to the dealers on numerous occasions with the same outcome the on board computer says nothing wrong. But in the last week it went back in for these issues again and now apparently had a new download to try to help with smoke on start up and MPG. Also Renault are now aware that there is a problem with the smoke on start up, was even shown a video clip of a Laguna starting up and smoking and was told that the start up smoking on mine is within limits. Not sure if I should feel resured that the Laguna smoked on startup, I take it that the Laguna and GT have the same engine.

The Laguna and the GT both have the same engine, in fact the 175 DCI we have in the sports is the same as well I think but remapped (I could be wrong) Its funny how after all this time they admit it, I would say do you think its acceptable for your car to blow blue smoke? We did not, if its a known fault and they cannot rectify it I know from experience I was not happy and would not put up with it myself. The sport started today with its first frost and nothing but the wisps of white smoke on a cold morning, no blue smoke at all, is there a 175 DCI Laguna? Ask to see if that smokes, say you want to test drive one first thing on a Saturday morning and look, if it does not and I bet it won't its an issue with the 150BHP variant engine in all models and I would personally want it changed, Renault had been denying a fault for so long and now they admit it, that's so out of order when I believe they knew from the start, I'm just glad our garage helped us out so much and fought with Renault UK over this I hope you get what you want from this, is this on the My Renault site as a call back for them to have this work done?
