Dephaser fixed, but...

Postby ft101 » Wed Aug 13, 2008 7:06 pm

Hello

My 2004 1.6 vvt just had its dephaser replaced.. had the car back a week and on a 2 hour run i got average of 35 mpg, and round town i was only getting 26mpg.

Question is, as everything was reset is it normal for the computer to need to relearn all the mpg stuff? The car runs fine otherwise, so i cant imagine the belt is a tooth out or anything like that.

thanks

No, and as far as I know it didn't need it. Does the TDC sensor present with poor fuel consumption and no other symptoms?

when i first had mine, the fuel consumption dropped from 38 to mid 20's (it was also cutting out on cold starts), it went straight back and they replaced the tdc and havnt had any problems since.
