I've had the option of paying £20 or the first £500 in the case of any accident so it's not unusual afaik

here in germany it is also usual to charge for loan cars when servicing. the costs vary extremely: my small dealer charges 10 Pounds as well per day including 200 kms....but the renault factory dealer in cologne, where I got the car from and who had to replace my turbo on warranty, wanted to rip me off for 150 pounds for a clio from wednesday night until friday night :eek :eek :eek

i chose to get home by train then, where I payed 4 pounds and had me taken back on friday by a friend....

mind you, it depends a bit on what kind of work has to be done: my dealer hat to re-repair my AC-system 3 times until it worked, and on the 2nd and 3rd go I got the loan car for free as it was rather embarassing for them that they were not able to fix it properly....it turned out that the plug of the AC switch on the dashbord had loosened itself :D

I get charged £10 for a courtesy car during servicing but the charge is waived for warranty work.
