Water in Passengers Floor Compartment

Hi, just bought the car for the wife and registered into this club. My first problem - looks like there could be many more !!! Although I have seen I lot of talk on the subject of water ingress in relation to the Renault Megane (a 2005 diesel 1,6) can anyone help by summing up the possible causes of finding water in this comparment and the ABC of how to identify and resolve the problem. PS assume I no nothing about how to fix cars. However, I did manage to poor some water into the drain under the bonnet by the windscreen on the passengers side, that water quickly flowed out behing the front wheel. On the driver side there was no such flow of water - it seemed to drip down from a couple of places - that's all I have done having read some of the previous posts. Thanks

usually, water comes in from the AC-system. this has a drain pipe which normally gets blocked by dirt from the cars underside.....it is a bit difficult to get there, it is situated somewhere near that heat protection of the exhaust, right below the gearstick on the cars underside....

another alternative is the water drain below the wipers, these become stuffed with leaves and things....for that you have to remove the wipers and the cover below them.....let me know if you want pitcures of that, we have it dealt with in our german board....

You find those holes in question when you open it at first glance, they are about an inch in diameter and there is a hose attached to them leading down into the wheelarches on each side.
