I was vacuming my car at the weekend when I noticed that two of the steering components (just above the pedals, one is a metal tube about 15cm long) were covered in rust. It looked mostly surface rust rather than it had rusted right through but I have booked it in for tomorrow at where I bought it from about 3 months ago to get the bits replaced.
Can't feel damp anywhere and the car is an 07 with 7000 miles.
Anyone else noticed this or can throw any light on it?

Re: Rust on steering components
The metal tube you saw above the pedal is the steering column. I have never heard reports of rust on this part... Weird.
I don't think its a problem (there are many parts of the car that carry surface rust and thats normal). But check it with a dealer just to be sure...
