airbag service light

Postby tempo* » Tue Jun 10, 2008 2:35 pm

another megane electrical quirk no doubt.

Occasionally (say 1 every 6 drives) the orange airbag warning light and service light come on intermittently. However they do not stay on and usually, by the end of my journey have been off and on 4 or 5 times.

The car is within service dates (no flashing spanner!) and all else seems to be fine (apart from the ominous sign of the dephaser problems), so anyone any suggestions?

It could be a dodgy connection on the wire under the seat, do a search on 'air bag light' and I'm sure you find some info on this fault.

I had this on my old 3 door 1.9 DCI.

Turns out the loom for the airbag in the drivers seat had become faulty. Apparantly this can happen in 3 doors from moving the seat back and forth to let rear passengers in/out.
Luckily the car was still under warranty (2 years old) and was fixed for free.

That and the FAP filter were the reasons I changed from the 1.9 DCI 3 door to a 5 Door Tech Run.
