i'm wondering if you realise you need to cancel and return to intermittent each time you start the car?
The Auto-intermittent setting doesn't work if it was left on that setting when you start the car. It needs to be cancelled by pushing up the stalk, and down again to position1 everytime you start it up.
no idea why renault decided to implement it this way?

If this isn't your problem, then have you got it set on a low sensitvity setting, there is a sensitivity twist switch (1 raindrop to 4 raindrops) around the collar of the stalk.

I would agree completely with markren2004 about having to cancel when you restart your car. As for how sensetive each setting is all I can say is that it must vary from car to car. On our 1.4 petrol a good setting for me in most conditions was position 3. However on our 1.5 dCi position 2 seems to do the same job.

You will soon get used to it, I know it can feel a bit strange at times not being "in control" but you will soon find a setting that suits you.

BTW - welcome to the MOC! Hope you continue to find your membership useful! :D

In that case just make sure the outside windscreen is very clean where the sensor is (near the rear view mirror) and wait for some rain to test it !!

it`s quite a clever idea really when you think about it...if you leave the intermittent wipers switched on when you park up for the night and your wipers are frozen to the screen in the morning,as soon as you start up you`d be putting strain on the wiper motor cos the wipers would would want to go. a bit like the frozen window/broken regulator scenario.
