Clio Campus van 1.5dci shudders.

Postby sporttourer » Wed May 14, 2008 8:40 pm

Hi,

My company has just bought three clio campus vans and all of them to some extent have what can only be described as a shudder.

the van starts fine but one of them can shudder in first , second ....fifth gear at various speeds. It is almost as if you are driving along riding the clutch and then pulling it back and you get the jolt. However there is no change in revs etc like you would expect if you do this.

The other two vans do it to a lesser extent but still do it.

Any ideas what could be causing this.

the stealer has done extensive tests and found nothing.

When asked if they road tested it they said yes and with a computer. - probably put it on a rolling road :eek

The wifes old Clio dCi 80 used to suffer from clutch judder in first gear when cold but not when warm. I always found the clutch to have a very short/sharp travel, don't know if the van's feel the same but I suspect they probably do?

Engine mounts could be a problem, Renault have had known issues in the past with top engine mounts on various models, don't know if the Clio is one of them though?

ECU issues, or fueling problems (guessing here)

Other than that, dunno?

Tha latest:

Renault have has the van 2 days and can't find anything. Typical!

When they took it out on a test dirve with me in the passenger seat they really did drive the van hard. Braking at what I would call the last minute, and braking hard and then really revving and going up the gearbox violently.
This did not create the juddering.

However when I got the van back it started it all over again. So we now have 3 vans that judder, with 3 drivers that feel the same thing all becasue we don't drive so violently.

Un fortunately when I drove it with the stealer in the van it didn't happen.

Is this a timing issue?

any ideas? It is driving us mad!

Thanks for any help.
