Has anyone ever had a problem with this part? My 56 plate has a damaged flap and it wont shut properly. The solenoid is now done for and the clip inside is snapped
According to my dealer i broke it on purpose and its not covered by warranty? Is this the case?

What a get out by your dealer!

Why would you purposely break your fuel flap.. just for a laugh so that you can go back and complain to them that your fuel flap is broken.. as if you've nothing better to do!
I think I've read about similar problems before on here but it was a while ago, can't remember the outcome, sorry?
Make improvements, not excuses!

Re: Fuel Cap
I guess, the dealer means that it was the act of vandalism, which is covered under insurance and not under the warranty... In this case your insurance company may help by inspecting the car and producing a report. Your legal insurance may help here. If both, the insurance company and the dealer refuse to accept responsibility, then call the finance company, who legally owns the car, and they will put pressure on both.
Another option, of course, is to read the manual and fix the problem DIY. It will be quicker (a couple of hours instead of a week without the car plus a month of negotiation), but will require an effort...

Re: Fuel Cap
Hello - I had a similar issue on my 06 Plate facelift megane, the fuel flap wouldn't sit flush with the body work when closed.
The inner black part is attached to the body via 3 torx screws and four retaining clips which are molded to the black plastic.
One of the retaining clips had broken - I went to my local dealer & tried to get it replaced under warranty, but had a similar response to Ian in that they said It couldn't break by itself....??
The inner fuel flap assembly was only around £20 from a dealer and is fairly easy to replace - the painted cover just slides off (the clips are quite thin plastic so be careful), then the inner assembly can be removed by unscrewing the 3 torx screws & unclipping the flap assembly.
Note that you have to prise down the solenoid locking pin before fully removing the inner flap assembly (reach under the wheel arch behind the flap to unclip the locking pin and push down).
Hope this helps!

Cheers for the reply guys
My issue is the fact no one seems interested. I may go the insurance route but wouldnt it cost me and put the premium up?
Is there such places that have ex renault trained techies?
Ie online?
I may take it there as it makes the car look rubbish
