Reprogramming or Resynchronising spare key card

Postby joewalch » Sat Apr 12, 2008 3:28 pm

Renault Megane 1.5 dci Dynamique - 04 plate

Hi

We have bought our Megane from Carcraft (would not recommend!) and have had alot of things sorted under warranty from them.

One thing they would not sort is the spare key. I have found "blank" keys listed on eBay and they seem an attractive alternative to paying £140 at Renault for a replacement.

It is also possible to purchase guides which involve holding of buttons for 5 seconds etc etc.

Does anyone know whether this works? I have read the post from 2006 about the pre-programmed VIN numbers on cards but not sure whether our 2004 car is included in that?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Joe

Unfortunately not.
You're going to have to stump the £140 to Renault.

The cards cannot be reprogrammed at all and i doubt the blank cards on ebay are truly blank.

All cards are programmed by Renault France (i think) and require proof of ID at the dealer.
