I have a 2005 1.6 dynamic done 35k when trying to select reverse gear it feels like its engaged ok until you release the clutch it then goes nowhere and makes the most embarrassing grinding noise ever the car will do this at least once a day sometimes more.
It has been back to the dealer four times now which they replicated and acknowledged a fault and so replaced the gear linkage, then the flywheel but this has not fix it.
Now they have decided it is not a fault and all Renaults do this and called it Bulking!
So is it me or do all Renaults do this?
Thanks any help is good here
1.6 dynamic wont select reverse (Bulking ?)

Mine only does that when I haven't put it into gear properly, if I accidentally ift the clutch without pushing the lever the whole way into gear. I don't think it's normal to be doing this all the time. Sounds like the perfect excuse by the dealer to get away from having to diagnose the problem.
Similarly, recently my 1.9dci has been having a problem where I go to press the brake to start it and the pedal is really stiff (as though the servo isn't working). Once I start the engine it releases. I phoned the dealer and they said it was normal on all Renaults. I must have driven around 10 meganes in my time, and I've never had this, and my car has only just started doing it. Rubbish I say!

I've had this happen a couple of times. Now though, I've got used to where the lever should be when reverse is fully engaged. If the lever doesn't feel as though it's gone all the way back, put a little pressure on the lever and lift the clutch very slowly. You should feel the gear engage before you would get to the point where it grinds.
I've had similar experiences with other cars so this probably isn't just a Renault thing.
