rear high light

does the rear strip light have a plug ,my light has failed and i have noticed a plug of somekind under drivers seat which is not plugged in

It will have a plug but you wont find it under the drivers seat, it'll be located next to the light unit

wouldn't of thought it would be that under seat. Haynes manual says to remove light 1st remove top section of tailgate window trim panel immediately below light thenuse a small screwdriver press retaining lugs at either end of light to release it. You have to disconnect washer tube from it and wiring plug to completely remove. You could then check whether wire is getting power to it. Not sure what bulbs are in there as haynes isn't clear on that. You might be lucky and find light works with a bit of a wiggle on the wires. Someone else may come along to help that has actually removed one.

i'll have to take a closer look at tailgate,does anyone know whay plug under seat is for then

Could be anything thats not standard on the car ie heated seats. Plugs and leads like this are generally put on cars during manufacture then connected to any extras if added to the car. I think!!

you mean like a standard wiring loom, i think so....
