Computor failure

Postby Simonf » Mon Dec 31, 2007 8:17 am

Could anyone give advice on how to approach the following please.
I have owned my 1.6 04 plate Megane Dymanique for approx 6 weeks, bought from a private sale 26k miles on the clock, on Christmas day the car would not start showing the error message "unable to read card", AA called said it was the micro switch in the card slot, they took car to Renault in Stockport who ran the dyagnostic, came back with big problem it looks like computor failure new unit required I take it they mean the CPU, Renault Stockport said they would get in touch with Renault GB and see if they could get them to pay for the repair( about £500) due to the car having done so few miles and the condition like new, Renault UK said they would not, Stockport have now asked me to speak to UK to see if I can pursued them, any thoughts/help on the matter would be much appreciated.

what about ur warranty?? if u r still in warranty period, Renault HAS to pay the charges, if they refused u have to sue them... :badred:

if u exceed the warranty period, then unfortunately i think u will have to pay for the CPU... :snif:

It's lookers at Stockport isn't it? I have dealt with them myself and found them quite good. It is right about you ringing Renault UK yourself, there is more chance that you'll get something out of them. I mean even if they meet you half way then that softens the blow quite a bit doesn't it. There's some posts about contacting Renault UK somewhere just do a search for Renault UK and such terms. I'm afraid though that they are within their rights not to contribute anything as the car is out of warranty.

Good luck with it, just remember to be polite and have anything that they may ask for easily to hand such as VIN number, registration, date purchased etc.
