Hi,
Just bought a Megane 1.9 DCi and have had problems with the clutch. Just had it changed, and now before you can engage gear the clutch pedal needs to be 'pumped' beforehand. It is fine after this has been done, but once stood, this needs to be done again.
I understand there is no bleed nipple with the car, and it self bleeds - but it doesn't appear to be doing a good job!! Any ideas?
Many thanks
Sean
Clutch just changed, now won't engage gear in a morning...

I am not sure what advice you are asking for? Is it how to request the garage to do their job properly?
The bleeding procedure is described in the documents pointed at in my message in Links section, page 37A-22 onwards.
Use last link to the workshop manuals!

Hi Alex, I guess I wanted to know if it was normal and if it would settle down after a bit of driving, or if it actually needed to be returned to the garage - which it sounds like it does!!
I don't mean to sound daft but where is the my message links section?? (sorry - bit bad with message boards).
Many thanks for your reply.

There will probably be high points on the clutch plate. My Laguna 1.9dCi had it's clutch replaced at only 21000 miles, the first one fitted did exactly the same thing as yours, but this was picked up by the dealer before the car was handed back to me.
Make improvements, not excuses!

Well the symptoms only take place once the vehicle has been stood (e.g. left overnight). After you've initially pumped the clutch a few times before you set off it's fine, and if the car is used consistently throughout the day then it remains fine, but then if it is left for say over a 4 hour period, it starts to need pumping again before the vehicle will first engage gears - this sounds more to me like it is getting air in the system rather than high points in the clutch???
Thanks
Sean
Thanks
