Car won't start when pressing clutch pedal

Postby 8ightball » Thu Oct 25, 2007 5:41 pm

The car won't start by pressing the clutch pedal and pressing the start button. I have to press the brake pedal instead. Is this a fault with the car or should I not worry and just use the brake pedal to start it?

Very common problem - well documented on here somewhere if you search. Also very simple to fix if you have any diy skills. If you look at the clutch pedal just above where your toes would be if you had you're foot on it you will see a switch with a wiring connector at the top. In your case you will probably see a broken wire just by it! You simply need to re-attch the broken wire to the connector block - if you extend it a bit with a few cm of extra wire it wont be under tension so shouldn't break again (for a while at least) unless you have size 12's and catch your foot on it!
At the end of the day... ..it gets dark
