catalytic converter? weird smell... please help!!
hi all, at times my car is giving off this, what i'm gonna describe as an eggy smell and its pretty ruff! thing is, it has been getting more regular. i have been told it might be the "catalytic converter?" im not sure myself, i know converter treats the exhaust before the fumes enter the big bad world, but if this is whats making the smell, is there any way of treating it??? any advice would be great!

This is a pretty common problem for most petrol engined cars. The eggy smell is Sulphur Dioxide (i think?) could be Hydrogen Sulphide?
All petrol contains sulphur (some more than others), and the Cat is converting this burnt sulphur into a different product, hence the smell. Try using a different brand of fuel or some ULSP (Ultra Low Sulphur Petrol) and see how it goes. It's nothing to worry about.
