Resetting the service light

Postby spungal69 » Thu Jul 05, 2007 11:14 am

How do reset the service light without going to the dealers and them saying,

"that's because you need a service that will be a million pounds please!"

It's just money I don't have lying about.

The car has been serviced, just need a reset cheers

When I had fixed the problem (coils) my service light went out after about 20 or 30 restarts of the engine. please see my post. If its the normal service I think you can just hold the reset button in for a few seconds.

Scroll through the trip computer until you get to the "change oil soon message/miles to next service" displayed.
Press and hold the mileage trip reset button on the speedo untill the display flashes, and then stays fixed. This can take a few seconds.

Job done!

If your Megane is the facelifted model, the proceedure is different and I'm not sure how you do it?

Thats brilliant, worked a treat on my Dynamique, thanks Ian for the link and thanks Andy for the info.

A little bit naughty but my car has still got warrenty left on it, if I service it myself (which I have been doing) will they be able to find out if i have re-set it myself as I have a small prob that I can't fix with the headlight.

Thanks

Also Works on 07 1.5DCI

Start car
Wait until "SERVICE DUE" is displayed
hold button at end of window wiper handle until "SERVICE DUE" starts flashing
It now changes to next mileage interval

As Gordon Ramsay often says JOB DONE

you would be suprised how much information the diagnostic clip gives them....it can tell them the highest revs you run your car at, how long an error code has been on and even how far you have driven with the code on..whether this gets cleared when you reset the service light is anybodys guess but highly unlikely

2008 Megane II 1.5dci 106ps: It seems to be getting trickier ! The following seems to have worked; I will repost if there's still a problem.
1. Start the car.
2. Press and release the "..." button on the end of the wiper stalk repeatedly until you see "service due"
3. Continue to press the same button repeatedly until you again see "service due"
4. Press and hold down the same button until the following sequence has completed :
After about 10 seconds the "service due" caption will flash 3 times, then a "service due in 18,000 miles" will flash 3 times and finally remain as a steady display.
5. Release the button.
6. I think that's it !
If you release the button too soon the system will not reset.
Other models may reset at a different service interval and it may not be necessary to start the engine, just switch on the electrics by pressing start without the brake or clutch; perhaps someone else could try it.
